Women's Imaging Services

At Long Island Radiology, we care about preventive healthcare for women. We offer a full range of state-of-the-art women's imaging services at a number of our convenient locations.

Mammography

Mammography is a low-dose x-ray examination of the breast. A screening mammography is done to detect breast cancer early on, when it is still too small to be felt by touch. Annual screening mammography is recommended for all women over the age of 40. Based on a woman's history, it may be recommended that annual screening mammography begin at an earlier age.

Digital Mammography, or Computer Aided Detection (CAD), is a proven technology that improves a radiologists' ability to detect small tumors sooner. Studies have shown that CAD increases accuracy by up to 20 percent.

Bone Density Testing

Bone density testing is an important evaluation for early detection of Osteoporosis. Bone density testing, or what is also known as a Dexa scan, is a safe, painless and effective diagnostic exam used to determine bone density of the spine, hip or wrist.

Ultrasound

Long Island Radiology offers breast, pelvic and abdominal ultrasounds for diagnostic evaluation.

Breast Ultrasound: Breast ultrasound is most commonly used to evaluate breast abnormalities that are found at screening, diagnostic mammography or on physical exam.
Ultrasound-Guided Fine Needle Aspiration: For ultrasound-guided aspiration.
Ultrasound-Guided Core Biopsies: An ultrasound-guided technique for breast biopsy.
Stereotactic Core Breast Biopsies: A simple, minimally invasive procedure that uses stereotactic guidance.
Pelvic and Abdominal Ultrasound: A non-invasive diagnostic imaging method to visualize the pelvic and abdominal area.
